Going Global, Vol. 02
An IPL hair-removal device leaves a central warehouse in China. It then goes through export customs, ocean freight, import clearance and an overseas warehouse. In the end, a postcode decides which parcel carrier delivers it.
Deep Insights and Hangzhou Ulike Technology Co., Ltd. have agreed to build a global TMS together, covering domestic delivery, export first-mile and overseas last-mile.
Ulike is a premium at-home beauty-tech brand sold in 49 countries. It sells through its own DTC sites, major overseas marketplaces and physical stores. Its products are high-value, contain batteries and need inspection. The further the chain reaches, the more detail it has to be managed in.
Linking every leg in one shared language
Domestic: choosing the carrier and checking every bill
The system picks the parcel carrier automatically by address, weight and product attributes, and checks every carrier bill against each order.
Export: compliance checks before dispatch
Compliance checks happen before an order is dispatched. Container planning and forwarder quotes sit in one planning sheet.
Overseas: the system decides which warehouse ships
The system works with several different warehouse systems. Postcode routing decides which warehouse ships and which carrier delivers.
Booking, customs clearance, warehouse receipt and delivery all report back into the same data. This means freight, duties and VAT can be allocated all the way down to each individual device.
In future, before a device is even packed, the system should already know which ship it will take, which warehouse it will enter, and who will deliver it to whom.
